Caddisfly

Brooch including habitat

Transformation. Stamped: 101/012 – GJERSEN 585 & 925

Brooch made of 14-karat gold, oxidised silver, tourmaline leaf, cat’s eye tourmalines, round faceted tourmalines, raw diamonds, green aquamarine, three 0.015 w.vs. brilliant-cut diamonds, 2 faceted moonstones.

For the caddisfly, the metamorphosis into a winged insect takes place under water, where the larva pupates inside its self-made tube constructed from materials it finds on the lake bed. In this design, the pupa is rendered as an exquisite holster for the grand metamorphosis. Bearing in mind that it conceals the soft, vulnerable potential behind the exquisite holster and is “captured” at the stage where the mature insect is emerging from the pupa.
