Longhorned Beetle Drill-Bill

No way back! Brooch including habitat

Stamped: 101/011 GJERSEN 925.

Brooch made of silver, 14-karat gold, painted amber and moldavite.

The ideas behind this insect:
The idea for this stubborn larval beetle that burrows its way into wood came from those times when we have to stubbornly press on through barriers when no alternative exists. The skirt on the insect illustrates that there is no backing out, because then it’ll be trapped in the narrow bore hole. There’s only one way, and that’s onward, through the barriers!

Habitatet:
is designed as a look into the tree trunk, where the beetle works its way through the challenges.

Materials:
Copper frame and Douglas fir.

This piece is an element in a composite artistic work, and is part of the HABITAT project.

Offered for sale with a proviso granting the artist the right to exhibit the sold item.
